Chris Cornell’s family pays tribute to late vocalist at 2019 Grammys
Late performer Chris Cornell’s friends and family paid him a tribute at the Grammy. The Soundgarden and Audioslave craftsman’s tribute takes place at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
On Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, and their kids. The kids include 14-year-old little girl Toni and 13-year-old child Christopher. On Father’s Day a year ago, Toni presented a video on YouTube of her and daddy singing. The family duo was singing a version of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.”
“Daddy, I love you and miss you. You were the greatest father a child could ask for,” she said on the video. “Our relationship was so special to me, you were always there to provide support for me. You gave me fearlessness when I didn’t have any. You had confidence in me when I didn’t. I miss the comfort of your love every day.”
Toni described the filming of the tune as a “unique and memorable time.”
At the “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell” show for charity in January. There Toni played out her father’s tune “Redemption Song” with Ziggy Marley.
Miley Cyrus, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Chris Stapleton, and numerous others performed. The benefit concert was a great success.
In February 2018, Vicky talked with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts. And, this was her first meeting since the artist’s demise and opened up about her misfortune. “He was the best spouse, the best dad. I lost my perfect partner and love of my life,” she said. “He needed to be there for his family, for his youngsters. He adored his life, he could never have ever left this world.”
Cornell received a total of 16 Grammys nominations over his life and won two!
