The childhood of John Lennon

John Lennon was a music enthusiast since he was very young. He exerted significant impacts on a band called the Quarrymen when he studied at high school. He was not only a real singer but also a great guitarist. He is a multi-talented guy, right? Are you wondering why the band is called Quarrymen?

That is the simple reason because of his school’s name called Quarry Bank. The interesting thing is the genre of music that the guys have chosen to perform at that time. You will believe that this kind used to exist because it completely disappeared in the music industry at present. It was a combination of jazz and swing. That was weird but so fascinating, right? In addition, he attracted some other talented members to join the group.

The perfect combination

With his first songs, Lennon and his friend, Yoko Ono showed their innate talent for music and this gained worldwide recognition at the time. Some famous songs attracted a large number of fans in the world and this is also one of many reasons why the number of Beatles’ fans is higher than any bands formed before.

The perfect combination of two people who were passionate about music created a very successful beginning for their career. Some of the best-known songs were "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," "Give Peace a Chance," "Instant Karma!" and "Imagine" at that time. You can realize that he was a multi-talented musician. That is amazing, right? Who did he learn it from? Do you think those are the music experts who taught him all those instruments? The answer is no. He learned from very ordinary people such as his mother and the driver. He also showed this uniqueness in the process of composing music and his performances on the stage. He attracted a lot of girls around as well as his fans.

Lennon’s former bandmate

Who is one of the most influential friends in the early days of Lennon’s career? Can you guess? He is Paul McCartney who Lennon no longer welcomed. With the disagreement between Lennon and Paul McCartney, Lennon decided to compose a song that was included in his 1971 solo album Imagine.

This song was called “Paul McCartney” with elaborate lyrics. What did this song say and why did so many people talk about this work? Did it contain a meaningful implication? That was true. That song was composed to imply to his former bandmate Paul McCartney. In addition, not only Lennon was unsatisfied about ex-friend but also the guitarist, George Harrison had the same opinion as him. Is that revenge?

So far, we can see the number of bands separated is very high and after 10 or 20 years a few groups will come back and form a new group. However, the special thing I want to mention is the return of Yoko and Lennon. In 2009, they brought the Plastic Ono Band back after 40 years of formation.

It's about his ability to drive. I am sure that famous people know how to drive the car very early but until 24 years old John Lennon received a license. However, John Lenno even had to give up driving after an accident when he was traveling to Scotland with colleagues and their children in 1969. That was so bad, right? Fortunately, that accident did not leave too serious consequences. To remember this memorable event, John and Joko keep this broken car in their home.

A perfect strategy

As I revealed to you in the previous section, John was not only a threat to the British government but also a threat to the US government. Both of these governments wanted to push him away when he tried against the war in Vietnam and John Lennon had huge influences on the protests. Yoko was one of the best friends of John Lennon so they activated together. They are the ones who have inspired many protests against the government at that time.

The protests happened in Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Montreal, Canada. The special thing here is that they operated without going out just in their beds. And the government seemed to have done nothing to them. John and Yoko were so bold, right? When looking at this photo, we can also see their calm and joy. Perhaps they were very pleased with what they have done.

Remarkable effects of drugs

As you know, the drug is very dangerous it destroys everything and causes great damage to career, finance, and health. In addition, it also exerted a negative impact on The Beatles. All members of the Beatles suffered serious consequences. Do you know the main cause of The Beatles' disbandment? It was marijuana and LSD.

The drug made two talented rockers to become worse physically and mentally. It was extremely hard but they eventually gave up to continue their music career. That was a hard period for both Yoko and John, right?

Maybe you think that was a crazy prophecy, but it was completely true. Before, an astrologist told Lennon that he would be shot on an island. He avoided performing in the Greek islands in 1969 because he believed in it. But in the end, he could not avoid his death when Chapman shot four times at John Lennon.

John Lennon and meat

Looking at the picture, you might have guessed what we're going to talk about. Despite being a very spiritual person, John still decided to eat meat in his daily life and did not want to become a vegetarian while all of his friends chosen to be vegetarian as the right solution for their situation.

I think John Lennon had no reason for him to give up meat in his diet. This was, in contrast, his bandmates.

Lost control

John had a very smart face combined with gentleness but inside him was a devil when anyone talked badly about his dignity. The incident stemmed from that Brian Epstein was rumored to fall in love with John. Do you know who Brian Epstein is? He was gay and a manager.

And everything became really bad when someone said John was gay. As a result, after defaming John, Wooler was beaten by John even though John nearly killed him at his own 21st birthday party because of losing control. His friends shouldn't have done that anyway because it's an insult to a man.

Insatiable person

Do you know anything special about John Lennon? I will reveal that he was an extremely ambitious person during his music career. He possessed natural talents in music and attracted a large number of fans in the world. It was obvious because he was not only proficient in many instruments but also great vocalists.

In addition, he also wanted all the Beatles’ records completed perfectly. It would be a hard situation for him and his bandmates. There were a lot of fans who did not agree with John Lennon.

The relationship between John and Paul

Though Paul and John were ex-friends or ex-bandmate, there were invisible barriers that were created by both Paul and John. John Lennon seemed to have some unpleasant things about Paul. He denied or avoided Paul many times but still kept in touch.

That is so obscure. For instance, John had flatly refused to invite Paul into his house when Paul arrived without notifying him. John Lennon was too fastidious, wasn’t he? I think no one understood what happened except John and Paul. From 1976 they probably did not see each other anymore.

The revival of Dirty Mac band

You surely have heard the name The Rolling Stones Rock, Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. What were they? They were famous bands in the world including talented rockers. They obtained great success and fame. It was a surprise when John had the opportunity to perform with these rockers in 1968. Was it a coincidence?

Of course not, John gathered them to join the program called "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus". Why did John know these people? It was so miracle because they were ex-bandmates of John in the Dirty Mac band which was formed when he was young. In addition, he called himself Winston Leg-Thigh. That was so great, right?

In addition, you can also see him on television in the movie called “How I Won the War “which was released in 1967. The special thing here was that John played the character named Musketeer Gripweed who was also nearsighted with glasses through the film. Yoko is a person who does not like war so in the past Lennon and Yoko were vocal critics of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War and she protested gun violence in 2013 with the image of bloody glasses.

The special exhibition

Surely you think that being a celebrity John just gone to luxurious places and all people he met were extraordinary people, right? That was normal for a celebrity like John Lennon. However, he went to an art show held at the Indica Gallery in London on November 9, 1966. This place was quite normal.

He had an opportunity to date with Yoko whom he later married. That is so miraculous. At that moment he also made a strong impression on Yoko by his talent. If he didn't go to such trivial places, he wouldn't have met a wonderful girl like Yoko.

Do you know what game in the picture? It was quite a popular game for kids. It was called Monopoly. This game was very interesting, it was about real estate trading.

He was a religious man and became a choir boy. That is so amazing, right? He used to go to St. Peter's Church in Liverpool, England and it was the music that awakened John's talent.

Only 3000 dollars

Can you estimate the amount of money to hire John to perform? I'm sure that would be a lot of money for a celebrity like John, right? that would not be $ 3,000 because it was so small for John.

Only 3000 dollars

For instance, creator Lorne Michaels invited The Beatles to take part in Saturday Night Live with only 3000 dollars. On Saturday night in 1975, John and Paul went for a walk near the place where the show “Saturday Night Live“ was organized. This is was so convenient for them to join with the invitation but they refused and came back home immediately.

The memorable photo

As a worldwide celebrity, John's image has always been very influential publicity. John was often featured in magazines even after his death. There must be something special about John's photo album, right? Can you guess?
