Even though Lynyrd Skynyrd had kicked the bucket due to the portentous crash event up to four decades ago, their music still forever living in their fans' hearts that have been keen on Rock and Roll mixed up with country music from them. After this terrible crash event, their music hits are still being listened to by a lot of people all over the world. It seems that their fabulous hits never get old for donkey's years.
Their inborn music talent of knowing how to mix the music up with rock and country music altogether to create their own music hits helped them to edge out other companions to be the spotlight of the show during the prime of Southern rock. Their great contribution to music had a great impact on their fans a lot.
When hearing their hard-luck story about the crash, it was baffling to all their fans that they hardly figure out how can this happen. It is still an unanswered question to the public nowadays. To know more about their tragedy, we should read this carefully to seek this unanswered question as it is still keeping in mind when approaching this one. Was it just an accident? Or something had been involved in this one to make it happen?

Who Were They?

If you are new to Lynyrd Skynyrd's legendary band, I will be the one that helped you to know more about them. This legendary band was originally set up with five members, including Ronnie Van Zant (lead vocalist), Gary Rossington (guitar), Allen Collins (guitar), Larry Junstrom (bass guitar), Bob Burns (drums), and more with some changes in the future for some reason.

Who Were They

They were to be first well-known to the public for their talent of music-making when debuting with several songs like "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama" in the early 1970s. The one thing that only this band had was that they all on the same wavelength with the concept of speaking to the American public by using their music taste instead of creating conflicts between members or having issues with each other to create dramas in public. There were a lot of music hits written under their name that had stolen a lot of listeners' hearts like "Simple Man," "Tuesday's Gone" and "Gimme Three Steps," which was debuted before 1977. With that, they had started their journey together to create what they wanted and received the name recognition to the listener as a reward in this field of music.

Their Fateful Meeting

Their meeting was like destiny, it felt like they were meant to be together on purpose but not accidentally. It was the reason why listeners approaching their music thought while searching for the band's information on the Internet. The way they created their band was also very peculiar. The main vocalist Ronnie Van Zant met the drummer Bob Burns by chance while hitting a ball to Bob on a ball field in 1964. Something came to Ronnie surprisingly that Burns and Gary Rossington were already friends, and then three of them started to get to know more about each other and began to share interests in playing instruments.

From that time, the band was born with great things waiting to happen. After that, their band's name decided to be called Lynyrd Skynyrd. This name came up to their mind when they were in high school. They had to deal with some punishments by their high school gym teacher who was truly named Leonard Skinner for letting their hair too long. Because of that, they had decided to name for their band this name to remember their moments together in high school and not to forget the teacher's punishments he gave to them.

The Convair 240

October 1977 was known as the unforgettable day of their prime time when releasing their fifth album "Street Survivors" which received a lot of good comments from the listeners all over the world. Lynyrd Skynyrd's band was overjoyed to their name recognition around the world as well as the achievements they had when doing music for the public. Some of their music also became hits and defeated other peers all over the billboard music awards. It had given them the ability to go on tours around the world including tours in the US.

When their tours set off, Lynyrd Skynyrd's only means of transport was planes as it was the fastest way for them to arrive at the concert on time without being exhausted. While they were on tour in the US, they also chose for themselves a plane to arrive at the next destination called a 1948 Convair 240. This plane was considered to be very old and just had more than 29,000 hours of flight time. Moreover, this plane was not the best option for other bands including Aerosmith because of the fact that they have seen the pilots Jack Daniels drinking during his inspection. Despite these precautions, the plane was still chosen for the band.

Fateful Words

Although the 1948 Convair 240 was chosen for the band, some of the members in Lynyrd Skynyrd did not approve of the decisions of flying on this plane because they had known what wrong with it. Cassie Gaines was one of the members in Lynyrd Skynyrd who disapproved of the notion of using this plane to travel, but no one was listening to her words or her precautions. The only thing that Lynyrd Skynyrd's members and other people heard was the word lines from Ronnie Van Zant.

He said with no doubts that it was time for them to go so everyone did not hesitate about anything; they just got into the plane without knowing what tragedy was waiting for them ahead when this plane took off. All the members in Lynyrd Skynyrd alongside 18 of their back-up crew went into this plane but unaware of the fateful events that were coming into their life that had changed themselves for good, just knew that there was a huge tour at the next destination and their beloved fans waiting for them to perform their music hits at the concert. From that moment, their concept of going into that plane had given a great impact in the field of music as well as Rock addictives.

A Malfunction

Everything was happening smoothly at the beginning of the take-off plane. The Convair 240 had been scheduled to take off at 4:02 p.m on October 20, 1977. Their destination was to land in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and everyone had estimated that they would be at Baton Rouge, Louisiana within three hours after the plane had landed. The pilot on the plane also indicated that the plane could fly for another five hours in the air as usual if needed as it had restored with 400 gallons of fuel for the take-off. But it was just the hypothesis of themselves, not the reality that they were bound to experience.

After flying for only just two and a half hours, the pilot started to talk to the radio control center that they were going to out of fuel very soon while in the air. They quickly made a plan to land at the nearest Mississippi airport in order to get the plane restored to continue their journey to Baton Rouge in Louisiana. But things did not go well with their expectation, the pilot started to report again to the radio control center that they had run out of fuel for the plane to operate well in the air.

Hopes and Prayers

When there was nothing that the pilots can do to help the plane to operate well, the only thing they can do is to inform the Lynyrd Skynyrd and their team of what had been happening now was that the plane had been out of fuel already. When hearing this fateful news, everyone will be really frightened a lot as their life is going to be on the verge of being in great danger, but not Lynyrd Skynyrd in this case. Billy Powell - the survivor in that 1948 Convair 240 told that every member was like letting their hair down and winding down like nothing bad happened, including the bad news of the plane going to crash if not restored.

Hopes and Prayers

They were very peculiar and so calm in a way that no one would expect to happen. They didn't even yell out loudly that they were going to die soon or screamed in a frightening way for this bad news came up. In place of doing that,  Powell who was one of the survivors told that everyone do nothing but pray for themselves that everything was going to be alright. They just hid their fear under their soul and heart not to be found by others and prayed for something good going to happen for 10 minutes before the tragedy started to occur at the last hours.

Preparing for Impact

Calming and not to afraid of the fateful tragedy arrivals were one of the things that Lynyrd Skynyrd's band had learned while debuting on stage. It was what they called Preparing for Impact taught them not to be panic when facing up to dilemmas. When the plane began to shut down due to being out of fuel and started to crash into the land in a few minutes, the first move of the plane was being hit the bottom and sides of its parts with the pine trees. It was such a frightening scenario that the survivor described the crash as like going down a hill quickly being hit with thousands of balls altogether at the same time without stopping.

Preparing for Impact

The plane was landing suddenly not having an airport nearby but natural forests and some of the trees were very tall which were estimated about 80 feet tall. Moreover, the plane was estimated to have flown for a whole of 495 feet after hitting the first tree. This had led to a lot of damages for the plane after it had a long way to go before stopping completely in the air and preparing for landing.

Disaster in the Woods

Of many fateful accidents happen with means of transportation, Plane crashes seem to be the worst part as it had brought a number of deaths so far. As Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crash had reported, the plane was in great damages as well as estimating to have a lot of deaths after the crash. The report said that the plane's wings had been shredded off badly while flying through the forests with tall trees and along the ground that some part of the wings had landed somewhere in the wood. One of the worst parts of the plane crash's scenarios was that the cockpit of the plane had collided with a tree that killed the pilots who were trying to control this dilemma.

Moreover, the rest of the plane also broke apart alongside the cockpit and kept on crashing through the trees of the wood without stopping. The seats were ripped apart as well, other objects like instruments, personal equipment, luggage, and so on hovered around and started to slam into the members. On top of the plane were people and objects started to float like clouds onto the blue sky and fell to the ground due to the gravity that it gave. Powell's most memorable moment about the crash was that he hit a table mid-crash after the plane finally began to land in the middle of the swampy Mississippi woods.

Grave Injuries

The accident of the crash started so quickly that no one would expect to happen like that as the result of it was very considerable. When approaching it, you will surely be terrified for a second and started to think twice about the fact of how this crash could happen. The survivor Powell had not believed in his eyes that it was so devastating after the crash had gone. The result was so great that his words could hardly help you to figure out all the aftereffects. Having to suffer from shocks and the severely heavily-damaged nose, he cannot do anything instead of hearing the sounds for bits of help from other members of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

From the scenario of the plane, all Powell can hear and see was Wilkeson yell at all cost to seek help so as to get out of here quickly while being trapped inside the cabin, Artimus Pyle trying his best to escape from the wreckage with his bones protruding from his chest, as well as  Ken Peden - one of the crew members - trying to escape from the debris. One more thing that was on Powell's mind when remembering this tragedy was that his shoes weren't in his feet and his socks were dangling from his toes.

Searching for Help

During the crash, miracles had happened to Lynyrd Skynyrd's band. The three members of the band had finally escaped from the debris caused by the crash and soon made their way to through the Mississippi woods to be in search of bits of help from someone in this woods of nowhere, and with some hope that this could make the rest of teams who were still under the crash's debris to be safe and sound as soon as possible. Somehow they got themselves to a nearby farm which was located in this Mississippi woods.

Searching for Help

It was the place that they met Johnny Mote - a guy that first heard from the crashing accident nearby and thought that was just a car accident. He thought it was just a criminal pursuit between the perpetrators and the police so he took notice of it and tried to get help from someone by firing his rifle into the air to draw attention. But when he came to the crash, Jonny noticed that someone needed a hand for the accident instead of committing crimes. Jonny still remembers those men had tried to persuade him to give a hand to help the rest of their team in order to get out of the danger by grasping him around his nape.

The Lives Lost

Although they had been backed up by Jonny, not all the members from the crash accident got over with other survivors. The crash was indicated to have six people died when the impact approached, including two of the pilots, Cassie Gaines, Steve Gaines, Ronnie Van Zant, and the assistant road director Dean Kilpatrick. Apart from that, the rest of the team were survived but in severe injuries like having broken and shattered bones, cut and ripped flesh, and extensive bruising that would bring sequelae in the foreseeable future. Besides those serious injuries, there were some other injuries that needed extended hospitalization and exhausting rehabilitation to recover wholly from the crash accident.

Although some of them were lucky to be safe and sound, they cannot get away with the heavy suffers they had to get from the consequence of the plane crash. But that was not their point of view, they were very glad to have survived through the tragedy safely and still feel miserable when their beloved ones would never be with them anymore. Although they will never be with them anymore, their image will always be kept in the survivors' minds and hearts forever, not to their music are still be outshone more than ever.

Breaking the News to the Public

Although the Lynyrd Skynyrd's fateful tragedy about plane crashing had occurred several days ago, nobody from the public knew anything about it and took any notice of how and why it happened. Not until the official news released the news about the Lynyrd Skynyrd disastrous plane crash after a day did the public as well as the Lynyrd Skynyrd's fans know all about it. It was Walter Cronkite that said to the public the information of the fatal incident at 8:20 p.m. on CBS News.

When first noticing this bad news, the whole people who loved Lynyrd Skynyrd was speechless not know how to react and they started to shed tears about the loss of their beloved ones. They just knew there was a plane crash accident from Lynyrd Skynyrd and that was all the information they had comprehended. From that time, they did not know who had died in the crash or the ones that have survived throughout that tragedy. All they could do now was just wait and wait until the news began to spread. Until the names of the deaths were due to release from the newspapers, a number of people started to sobbed intensively for the band.

Witness Reports

When it comes to  Lynyrd Skynyrd's breaking news, people started to surf all over the news pages, anywhere they can know what was happening to this popular band, not to mention this plane crash fatal accident had made their mind become more and more curious than ever. New reporters from famous new channels on the TV set off their journey to seek every single detail about this fatal event that Lynyrd Skynyrd had suffered from.

To find out the mysteries hidden behind this plane crashing accident, some of the reporters also went to the site where this fatal accident occurred in the woods near Gillsburg, Mississippi. They might have made a snap decision for what they have done as it was their job to do so but they cannot take it back now. When seeking detail and information about the crash, one of the reporters had wholly indicated that seeing it in real life was exactly like seeing it on screen pictured and filmed by other reporters. He would never want to imagine the scenario of that catastrophe again in his life. The sequels of this tragedy were out of the blue that everyone can hardly hold their tears when seeing it in person.

An Investigation Is Launched

Although the news reporters had released all the information and details about Lynyrd Skynyrd's disastrous plane crashing accident, some of the viewers didn't think about the initial explanations for the crash itself in the reporter's views. They hypothesized that this was not an accident by itself, it was like someone had been involved in this fatal accident with the view to deteriorating the bands. The one detail that made them become more and more baffled was the unexplained concept of how the plane could have been out of fuel so suddenly without the pilots realizing what was happening when taking off. It was so paradoxical that the viewers needed to have the right answer for this unexplained situation.

An Investigation Is Launched

To satisfy the view's thought, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board had opened an investigation in order to figure out the truth behind it. They had found out that the fuel of the plane was totally run out, and the pilots were not able to estimate their correctness of using the fuel throughout the flight that led to this fatal accident. The investigation also showed that they had operated the plane with fuel that was in the automatic-functioning setting was the reason why the plane had run out of fuels so quickly, not to mention the automatic functioning setting is one of the most popular operations for planes in most cases.

Final Verdict

The investigation still went on in order to look for the final conclusion for the case of the Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crash accident. Finally, the team of whom did the investigation had made their conclusion for this case that the right engine of the plane had wasted more gas than usual due to the automatic functioning engine which caused the plane to stop operating properly because of being out of fuel, but they still did not make certain about this explanation as it could not make the fuel from getting so low to running out of it.

Final Verdict

As they had opened an investigation on this case, the explanation had not satisfied and answered the questions that the console family, friends, and fans of the deceased band members had been puzzled about. This unanswered question about the crash was left wondering what ascribe to on the plane that led to such a disastrous tragedy. One of the survivors from the crash Allen Collins (pictured) had witnessed a burst of flame from the side of the engine days earlier, but nothing had proved that his words are true. The only thing that still happened was that no one could find out what had gone wrong with the plane.

Tragic Irony

All the things about the plane crashing accident occurred several days ago, and the explanation for the reason why the fuel had run out had been revealed by the teams of investigators, it was all the things they can do to the case. The only thing that made the survivors and the public regretted most was about the entire story of Artimus Pyle unveiled his last conversation with other members of the band who had deceased from the deadly accident during the time of the flight. He had mentioned about his concept of switching their plane to a Learjet for upcoming flights to the members, as they had known that the Convair 240 was not a better option due to the fact that it was not as good as it used to be.

They also planned for themselves to do away with their obsolete tour bus and made a decision to buy a new one for themselves. Those up-to-date facilities are going to be implemented in the next couple of weeks, but things did not go well that they will never get a chance to do it together. It was too late for them to make up their minds about switching planes anymore.

An Unpleasant Album Cover

Fateful things had occurred to the Lynyrd Skynyrd's band a lot during their flight to Baton Rouge, Louisiana including a number of deaths it made that brought not only sadness to their fans but also pains to their family, friends, and beloved ones who would never see them again. What might also be concerned more was the coverage of their most popular recent album called Street Survivors that brought a lot of flashbacks about the catastrophe of Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crashing accident to anyone who had known the news as well as their music addictives.

Above is the picture of the coverage recent album Street Survivors, you can see all the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd standing in a row in front of a burst of tall red flames while some of them had their eyelashes closed suddenly and formed some peculiar facial expressions when capturing this photo for the cover of Street Survivors. Although this cover and the plane crashing accident didn't involve much of anything alike, there was to have something hidden behind it that made their addictives become more and more distressed and unsecured while seeing it. When hearing this from the fans, MCA Records started to take action and made a new change for the cover of the Street Survivors' album to be less dramatic than it used to be in the past. Thankfully, the original ones had been moved to the back to prevent fans from seeing it and then flashing back to that fateful tragedy again.

Post-Crash Popularity

When it comes to celebrities' deceases, it is indisputable that their name will not be forgotten for good. They will invariably be remembered in their fans' minds and souls, their name will be put in all the billboards of every city/town to say that they will be the legendary ones to the listeners all over the world and to remind people of a band who had brought joys and entertainments to people by making pieces of music. Some of the fans will always talk about their idols more often like they are their praises, buying the whole of their idols' albums, including merchandise of them, and not to mention suffering from their passing with tears and sadness. Lynyrd Skynyrd was no exemption to this form of expression.

To remember the deceases of Lynyrd Skynyrd from the fatal accident, their fans had bought the entire Street Survivors album with the view to making it become sold out completely and led to the number five on the Billboard Hot 200 list. Because of that, Street Survivors was to be the second platinum album alongside Gold & Platinum. Although their music hits had brought them great success to the public, several members of the team who had kicked the buck will never have a chance to be overjoyed together for the achievements and compliments they had received and will forever having the opportunity to make music hits together anymore.

Slow Recovery

Although there were some of the members hadn't got the chance to get over with the death, there were some that had luckily survived through this tragedy. Despite having survived the crash accident, they had to try their best to recover from all the serious damages they had with strength and rehabilitation after experiencing this disastrous accident. To recover from it completely without getting any sequelae, they had to consume a lot of time suffering from extremes of the injuries with serious rehabilitation that would cause pains a lot. Besides healing from the physical injuries, they also need to be cured of their mental mind when having to face up to this dramatic event in their life.

It seemed that this catastrophe had led their minds to be in great fear. After the fatal event had happened a couple of weeks, a news reporter had asked one of the survivors from the crash Billy Powell whether he believed there would be any miracles for Lynyrd Skynyrd to keep on their career of music anytime or not, he just simply replied without doubt that this notion was going to happen, and he was right all along. Fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd estimated that the band hadn't released any songs of them or their debut stage for the next 10 years.

Reunion

Time passed, heals had been cured completely, but the deceases from the crash still cannot come back to see the compliments or achievements the public gave to them. But they need to live on that tragedy and set off a new journey hoping for the better scenarios waiting for them to take in. On a surprising day, Billy Powell, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Gary Rossington, Artimus Pyle, ex-member Ed King and Ronnie Van Zant's little brother, Johnny (pictured), all got together for a Lynyrd Skynyrd gathering with the view to making pieces of music for the public to thank for what they had done for Lynyrd Skynyrd.

They started to work hard on their music career and finally released their new album called Southern by the Grace of God for their beloved fans that invariably wait for their comeback. After this album had released to the public, the whole of their fans was very over the moon when hearing this great news after a 10-years plane crash accident. They had finally seen their beloved rock stars back on the stage playing the music hits they had so sincerely yearned. All of the incomes that the band had received were all gave to the family members who had passed away and loves for their band among existing and new fans.

Continued Tragedies

Happy endings were not always existed in everyone's life, and Lynyrd Skynyrd was not an exception. It was the fateful crash of the Convair 240 had led to the disastrous past for all the members, but still continuing with others tragedies waiting to occur into other members' life. Allen Collins - one of the survivors from the crash - cannot prevent himself from another drama arriving in his life.

Continued Tragedies

After that deadly event, he had a nasty car accident in 1986 that left his whole body paralyzed. He had been indicated death due to pneumonia caused by the aftereffects of the paralysis four years later. Besides Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson was found dead in 2001 in his hotel room, presumably from natural causes, including Billy Powell who had passed away from a heart attack in 2009.  Things seemed to play hard for this inborn talented band that tragedies kept on happening suddenly to endanger their life. Every member began to pass away that left only Artimus Pyle and Gary Rossington remain their life after 2009. Two of them were to be the only surviving members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd band from the 70s who luckily had not got through the devil's door yet.

A Movie Controversy

Years later after all the tragedies started to stop in Lynyrd Skynyrd's member's life, a director from Cleopatra Films wanted to produce a film series about Lynyrd Skynyrd band as an autobiography of themselves, including all the information and details of the plane crash accident that will be made into the film as well. Lynyrd Skynyrd members agreed to be involved in the film as they wanted to make it as a present for their beloved fans out there that were waiting for their comeback stage.

A Movie Controversy

They started working with Artimus Pyle on a script, but Gary Rossington and the family members of those who died had opposite views of those who agreed to do so. The teams of the film claimed that the survivors of Lynyrd Skynyrd had all agreed to take part in the film as they wanted to make their fans become excited and overjoyed with their surprising gift as well as protecting the band's name and their story to pass down for the next generation to know more about them. But for some reason, the film was not claimed to be on air at any cinemas as well as at any channels.

Eventual Release

Although the first autobiography of Lynyrd Skynyrd was put on hold due to some legislation ahead, it will never stop the filmmakers from making another one for Lynyrd Skynyrd. That was the reason why there was a new trailer released for the Lynyrd Skynyrd's documentary called Lynyrd Skynyrd: If I Leave Here Tomorrow in 2018 with the cooperation of Gary Rossington (pictured right). It was made perfectly for the fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd as well as having the concept of preserving their legacies for the next generation to know how great they were in the past.

All the characters and scents of the movie were all chosen, directed and edited by Cleopatra Films. The documentary film about Lynyrd Skynyrd had finished filming but still cannot set a release date to be on air to the public because there were still some of the legal laws that prevented the film company from publishing it to the viewers as well as Lynyrd Skynyrd's beloved fans. Because of that, many people from the public still hope that they could have a chance to see the film being on the screen one day in the future.

The Crash Site Today

When talking about Lynyrd Skynyrd's fatal plane crash accident, fans of them including people having heard of it can hardly forget about their disastrous tragedy and where it had occurred that had nearly deteriorated all the band's members. If you have a chance to visit Gillsburg, Mississippi where the plane crash accident had taken place, you will see a number of homages to the band's members that were made by their music addictives. The lyrics of Lynyrd Skynyrd's one of their music hit "Free Bird" was engraved into a nearby tree alongside many of the fans' names with the view to remembering their legacies of making music.

Besides that, there was also a fan-made metal sign standing in the area of the plane crash site and lights up in neon colors to make this disastrous site look more peaceful and comfortable for those who saw it by chance. Some of the loving messages also written by their fans were left there to show their loves, their thanks to the contribution and dedication from the members of the band who kicked the bucket. All of their fans did to Lynyrd Skynyrd band have proved how great their loves gave to them that their images will always be in their fans' minds and souls.

An Official Monument

As there were the number of members in Lynyrd Skynyrd's band had estimated to be dead in the plane crash accident, including Ronnie Van Zant, his wife (picture) made a decision in 2019 that she wanted to build up some of the long-lasting monuments for her husband and the other people who died on that day with the view to remembering their dedication to the field of music as well as reminding people in the public as well as the next generation of their name and appearance.

Because of that, she had set up the Lynyrd Skynyrd Monument Project for the public and succeeded in raising an impressive $80,000 for the project. Her project had made a great impact on the Lynyrd Skynyrd's addictives and the people in public that it had received a lot of money. Some of the money will be given into the Lynyrd Skynyrd Monument Project, the rest of it will be given to the surviving families of the victims. This project was created to pay great respect as well as memorializing the Lynyrd Skynyrd's dedication to the world and those who had passed away in the crash.

The Last Living Survivor

Although the plane crash accident had done wonders to those who luckily survive, they also had to get through other tragedies that led them to the Devil's door. The only one that luckily survived throughout the times of tragedy was Gary Rossington. Gary Rossington was indicated to be the last co-founder member of Lynyrd Skynyrd to remain living until now. There were also Artimus Pyle who also a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd who had a great passion for performing on stage and in concert. He did some solo performances and did not make a decision to have a go at setting up a new band until a few years later.

He had decided to set up for himself a new band called Artimus Pyle Band with new members, he kept on making new music as well participating in tours around the world, but some of his band's performances did not go well at the beginning and could not last forever like he used to perform in  Lynyrd Skynyrd. The "Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour" is set to launch in March of 2020 which was to be Lynyrd Skynyrd's last performance on stage. Anyone who had been addicted to Lynyrd Skynyrd will never want to miss this opportunity to see them sing live on the stage, and this was to be their taking-leave to their beloved fans. After the touring ends, their songs will still live on forever to the public.

An Unfortunate Coincidence

When talking about the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash accident, eight out of ten people can hardly forget what happened to Lynyrd Skynyrd's members back then, but still did not know the exact detail of the accident which some of the information were left unanswered. For instance, Artimus Pyle had experienced a similar thing that happened to his father in the past. Pyle's dad, Del, was addicted to flying planes and started to take up it as a hobby. He loved every time flying a plane throughout the blue sky full of white clouds and enjoyed the fresh air above the sky.

An Unfortunate Coincidence

He was so into it that his adventurous hobby had taken him into a disastrous accident that no one would know how to react. He was estimated to have passed away suddenly because of a plane accident just like Artimus Pyle had experienced before in his crash accident in Convair 240. In 1971, Del was struck in the weather condition with full of bombs floating around him while flying by a B-57 and died in the air. Like his father, Artimus Pyle had great interests in planes a lot, so it was like a disastrous coincidence to both of them when having suffered from flight-related crashes.

Leon Wilkeson's Struggle

Leon Wilkeson who was the Bassist of Lynyrd Skynyrd's popular band had survived in this disastrous plane crash accident but still had to suffer from serious injuries that the accident had given to him. He had displaced teeth, a broken arm, a broken leg, and severe internal injuries that needed to be cured and operated by doctors so as not to bring sequelae for himself in the future. According to some of the news reporters, his heart was indicated to have stopped two times at the time he was on the operating table for his surgery recovery. Luckily, he then recovered from all of it.
